After moving to NYC and experiencing one crazy winter—dare I say that I’m feeling a little spring fever? So much so, that I’ve committed to resetting my physical health by taking on a 10-day detox that my friend, colleague and personal physician, Dr. Mark Hyman swears by.

“It’s easy,” he says and smiles. “You just take out the bad stuff and put in the good stuff. Your body does the rest. Come on, Neha, you can do anything for 10 days!”

Well, I guess when you put it like that, it’s true. And the side effects are somewhat addicting—better sleep, more energy and more vitality. But, like me, do you ever wonder, how did I get so far off track—again?

The truth is there’s a lot of health advice flying around the Internet. And some people don’t have the right information about how to nourish their bodies. Other people live in areas of the country that are deemed food deserts. Unfortunately, I can’t use either of those excuses. I have more autographed copies of health books on my shelf than a NYC woman has shoes in her closet. And whatever my taste buds desire, can be delivered in less than 30 minutes to my doorstep. So why then—do I fall off the health wagon?

My initial instinct is to blame it on a heavy workload, but I know that’s just an excuse. It’s more than that. When I experience emotional and social stress, I replace what I know I should do, with what I want in the moment. When I feel lonely, exhausted or overwhelmed, then I justify my poor choices.

Personal confession:
When I can’t handle it anymore, I reach for my comfort foods, which coincidentally contain lots of dairy and sugar. Specifically sharp cheddar cheese with sea salt chips and a hot cup of fresh ginger chai (or three).

When stress builds, I’ve mastered tuning out my body to push through and get through my never-ending to-do list. However, over the past decade, I’ve also learned the importance of tuning back in. Listen, I still fall off the wagon. It’s just that I’ve figured out how to get back on track more quickly. And you can too! All you need is to understand the three conversations going on inside you—and you’ll be equipped to handle the stress in your life so much better!

That’s why I’ve teamed up with Mark Hyman, M.D., for a FREE online event to explore what really undermines your ability to attain optimal health. It’s called “Two Doctors Talk Detox Secrets: De-Stress, Lose Weight, Feel Great!Claim your spot here (it’s free!).
